Sr. Manager (Software Engineering)

Location: Foster City, California, United States; at least 3 days per week in the office required. Travel required 5–10% of the time.

Salary: $192,100–$307,800 USD per year, with potential bonus and equity eligibility.

What you will do

• Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of 8+ software engineers.
• Oversee application development from unit design and coding through code review, testing, release management, and production support.
• Guide architecture decisions, technical designs, proof-of-concept work, and evaluations of emerging technologies.
• Manage sprint planning, hiring, onboarding, capacity, priorities, delivery risks, and dependencies.
• Drive agile development, CI/CD, DevOps, observability, and operational excellence practices.
• Collaborate with Product, Architecture, Security, SRE, Infrastructure, QA, and Operations teams to deliver secure and reliable systems.

Requirements

• 8+ years of relevant experience with a Bachelor’s degree, or 11+ years of relevant experience.
• Strong hands-on software engineering experience, including coding, code reviews, technical design, and architecture decisions.
• Experience with cloud-native technologies, distributed systems, APIs, microservices, event-driven systems, and highly available production applications.
• Experience leading engineering teams, mentoring engineers, managing delivery, and driving technical initiatives.
• Experience with CI/CD, DevOps, infrastructure as code, testing, observability, SRE, incident management, and disaster recovery.
• Ability to deliver secure, scalable, reliable, and high-quality solutions while collaborating with global cross-functional teams.

Nice to have

• Experience leading software engineering teams through direct management, matrix leadership, or technical influence.
• Experience with Google Cloud technologies such as GKE, Cloud Run, Pub/Sub, Cloud Spanner, Cloud SQL, Bigtable, or Dataflow.
• Experience with multi-region deployments, enterprise integration patterns, and mission-critical Tier-0 systems.
• Experience integrating AI-assisted engineering capabilities while maintaining security, quality, and governance controls.
