TL;DR
Junior Operational Readiness Specialist 1 (Industrial Project Readiness): Supporting operational readiness plans, assessments, documentation, training coordination, commissioning, startup, and turnover activities for industrial projects with an accent on cross-functional coordination, field execution, and risk tracking. Focus on maintaining readiness deliverables, closing operational gaps, coordinating training, and supporting the transfer of equipment ownership to site operations and maintenance teams.

Location: Houston, TX, US; in-office environment with flexibility to work remotely when needed. Willingness to spend time in office and field environments, travel intermittently up to 80% Monday through Friday, and accept short-term field assignments is required.

What you will do

  • Develop and maintain operational readiness plans, schedules, action logs, dashboards, and status reports.
  • Support readiness assessments, milestone reviews, startup planning, field walkthroughs, commissioning, and post-startup stabilization.
  • Coordinate with operations, maintenance, engineering, project management, training, safety, and site teams.
  • Prepare and organize operating procedures, maintenance procedures, work instructions, training materials, and startup documentation.
  • Track training requirements, punch-list items, readiness gaps, mitigation actions, and turnover deliverables.
  • Support project turnover and the transfer of equipment and system ownership to site operations and maintenance teams.

Requirements

  • Recent or soon-to-be university or college graduate with little or no professional experience.
  • Preferred bachelor’s or master’s degree in electrical, computer, mechanical, chemical, or process engineering.
  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale; transcript submission is required with the application.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Teams.
  • Strong organization, attention to detail, communication, interpersonal, critical-thinking, and problem-solving skills.
  • Must be willing to work in office and field environments, travel intermittently up to 80%, and accept short-term field assignments. Employment visa sponsorship and STEM OPT participation are not available.

Nice to have

  • Co-op experience in project execution, commissioning, or industrial construction.
  • Experience in heavy industrial, manufacturing, mining, energy, steel, chemical, or related environments.
  • Exposure to project execution, maintenance planning, or operational support activities.
