Senior Accountant

What you will do

• Perform month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close activities, including journal entries, accruals, reconciliations, reserves, prepayments, and variance analysis.
• Maintain general ledger accounts, complete intercompany reconciliations, and support balance sheet, income statement, management reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and FP&A activities.
• Support inventory accounting, inventory reconciliations, physical counts, audits, and coordination with Operations and Logistics.
• Provide cross-functional support for accounts payable, accounts receivable, customer invoicing, cash application, fixed assets, employee expenses, and related reconciliations.
• Support Japanese statutory accounting, tax compliance, regulatory reporting, the Qualified Invoice System, and the Electronic Books Preservation Act.
• Lead or participate in finance transformation, automation, process improvement, system implementation, documentation, testing, training, and post-implementation stabilization.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Economics, or a related field; Bookkeeping Level 2, an equivalent qualification, or equivalent accounting knowledge.
• Native-level Japanese and business-level English, with written and verbal communication skills for local and global stakeholders.
• Hands-on general ledger and financial close experience, including independently preparing and reviewing journal entries, reconciliations, variance analysis, issue resolution, and deadline-driven close activities.
• Experience in a multinational or international business environment, with practical knowledge of Japanese accounting, tax, audit, statutory reporting, internal controls, and compliance.
• Knowledge of financial accounting, accruals, fixed assets, inventory, balance sheet management, reporting, and variance analysis.
• Experience with ERP and financial applications, advanced Microsoft Excel skills, and strong analytical, organizational, communication, stakeholder management, and project coordination abilities.

Nice to have

• Experience with Oracle E-Business Suite, Kyriba, Bill One, e-Tax, or Concur Expense.
• Experience with finance automation, workflow digitization, system implementation, Power BI, Power Query, or Power Automate.
• Experience supporting treasury, cash management, FP&A, process improvement, or finance transformation.
• Japanese CPA, U.S. CPA, or another relevant professional accounting qualification.
