Senior Accountant (Workday Financials)

Location: New York, United States; hybrid and on-site work

Salary: $130,000–$165,000 per year, plus equity and bonus opportunities.

What you will do

• Support monthly and quarterly close activities, including journal entries, account reconciliations, financial statement review, flux analysis, and general ledger work.
• Develop and improve the global accounting close calendar, coordinating deadlines, dependencies, and activities across entities.
• Review accounting and close processes to identify opportunities for standardization, simplification, automation, and stronger controls.
• Develop close metrics and process documentation, including procedures, process flows, ownership matrices, and accounting policies.
• Execute and coordinate end-to-end accounting testing in Workday Financials, validate results, identify defects, and resolve implementation issues.
• Support post-go-live stabilization and broader finance transformation initiatives while partnering with FP&A, Payroll, Procurement, Tax, Treasury, and accounting teams.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• At least 5 years of progressive accounting experience with strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, general ledger accounting, reconciliations, financial reporting, and month-end close.
• Experience developing close calendars, coordinating cross-functional close activities, or driving close acceleration initiatives.
• Strong organizational, project management, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Advanced Excel skills and experience working with large, complex data sets.
• Experience with Workday Financials and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple workstreams.

Nice to have

• Combination of Big 4 public accounting and industry accounting experience.
• CPA or equivalent professional accounting qualification.
• Experience with ERP implementation, finance transformation, or significant accounting process improvement initiatives.
• Experience with Oracle ERP or similar enterprise financial systems.
