TL;DR
Health & Safety Manager - Dungeness (Nuclear Demolition/HSEQ): Providing health, safety, quality assurance, and environmental support for a major demolition project on a nuclear licensed site with an accent on risk reduction, compliance, and proactive safety management. Focus on facilitating risk assessment workshops, maintaining the project risk register and construction phase plan, leading investigations, and improving HSQE performance.

Location: Site - Dungeness, United Kingdom; onsite work on a nuclear licensed site

What you will do

  • Provide competent health, safety, quality assurance, and environmental advice for a major demolition project.
  • Work with the project senior management team to reduce risks associated with high-hazard work scopes.
  • Facilitate risk assessment workshops and maintain the project health and safety risk register and construction phase plan.
  • Coordinate with the client project team and station operations to meet nuclear licence-holder accountabilities.
  • Lead HSE audits, inspections, Level 2 investigations, performance reporting, and close-out of findings.
  • Coach project teams, mentor direct reports, and promote a positive HSQE culture through briefings and training.

Requirements

  • NEBOSH Diploma Level 6 or equivalent.
  • IOSH Chartered Membership, a valid driving licence, and a CSCS Health and Safety Managers Card.
  • At least five years of experience in heavy construction and/or demolition, including major projects.
  • At least three years of experience with a Tier 1 contractor organisation.
  • Experience with accident investigations, CDM 2015, HSE legislation, risk assessments, and method statements.
  • Strong communication, relationship management, time management, IT, and proactive problem-solving skills.

Nice to have

  • IEMA Practitioner membership, mental health first aid, and formal accident investigation training.
  • Experience with asbestos, lifting operations, confined spaces, emergency planning, radiological protection, COSHH, and behavioural safety.
  • Experience working on nuclear licensed facilities and developing management systems.
  • Knowledge of Bowtie Risk Analysis, sustainability, and carbon capture.
