Network Technician (Fiber Networks)

Location: 3516 Old Halifax Road, South Boston, Virginia, United States; central-office and field-based work

What you will do

• Support and maintain switching equipment in central offices and the field.
• Install, support, and maintain fiber, copper, transport, and special-circuit networks.
• Work with the TIRKS system for special-circuit operations.
• Monitor and support switch alarm activity.
• Maintain backup generators and central-office power systems.
• Respond to outages, including required overtime and weekend work.

Requirements

• 3–5 years of experience as a switch technician.
• Knowledge of inside and outside plant cabling practices.
• Knowledge of safety rules and regulations.
• Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
• Ability to work all assigned shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Ability to work effectively with customers and colleagues and drive issues to resolution.
