IT Field Service Technician (Networking)

Location: Rockford, Illinois 61107, with regular regional and nationwide travel to construction job sites

What you will do

• Install and configure computers, servers, workstations, printers, projectors, conference rooms, and training center equipment.
• Deploy routers, switches, wireless access points, mobile hotspots, modems, antennas, and other cellular or internet connectivity solutions.
• Install and terminate copper and fiber cabling while following job-site safety standards.
• Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, Wi-Fi, cellular, Ethernet, and other connectivity issues both on site and remotely.
• Distribute, validate, collect, and recover technology assets across construction locations.
• Coordinate with vendors and maintain detailed installation, configuration, service, and project documentation.

Requirements

• Experience installing and troubleshooting wired and wireless network infrastructure, hardware, and on-site technology systems.
• Knowledge of internet and cellular connectivity solutions, including mobile hotspots, routers, satellite modems, and antenna installations.
• Experience with security cameras, access control systems, or other construction-related technology.
• Ability to diagnose complex technical issues independently, escalate appropriately, and adapt to changing field conditions.
• Ability to lift up to 30 lbs. and work outdoors, at heights, and in varying weather and construction environments.
• Must be willing to travel nationwide, stay overnight when required, hold a valid driver’s license, have reliable transportation, and maintain a clean five-year driving record.

Nice to have

• Experience with Cisco routers, switches, and access points.
• Experience installing and configuring satellite internet systems such as Starlink.
• Construction industry or construction technology support experience.
• CompTIA Network+, Cisco, or similar network installation certifications.
• Experience with cloud services, security systems, remote monitoring, and technology solutions supporting multiple job sites.
