Network Control Technician (Telecommunications)

Location: Houston, Texas, United States; onsite in a secured control center with rotating shifts

What you will do

• Monitor and maintain the integrity and availability of a nationwide telecommunications network.
• Use SolarWinds, Zabbix, Cisco, Juniper, and related hardware and software tools to diagnose and resolve network issues.
• Perform complex testing and analysis of data, voice, video, SCADA, microwave, MPLS, VSAT, and PL network elements.
• Document incidents in the ticketing system and ensure effective communication during shift handovers.
• Coordinate directly with customers, vendors, field technicians, and internal and external network engineers.
• Support continuous process improvement, network safety, and 24x7x365 operational coverage.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent experience.
• 1–3 years of direct experience in network operations or telecommunications, with demonstrated troubleshooting skills.
• Working knowledge of data, voice, video, and SCADA network components.
• Proficiency with incident tracking systems and Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• Valid driver's license and a driving record satisfactory to the company and its insurers.
• Ability to work rotating shifts in a 24x7x365 onsite control-center operation, including overtime and occasional short-notice shift changes.

Nice to have

• Associate or bachelor's degree in telecommunications.
• Telecommunications or IP networking certification, or progress toward certification.
• Experience with gas pipeline monitoring or a 24x7x365 operating environment.
