Field Supervisor (High-Voltage Electrical Testing)

Location: Houston, Texas 77034; the position is based in Columbus, Ohio and requires extensive travel, including overnight stays.

Salary: $58,000 annually.

What you will do

• Lead multiple concurrent field testing, commissioning, and maintenance projects, managing scope, schedules, budgets, revenue, and quality.
• Allocate field crews, equipment, and materials while protecting productivity and project profitability.
• Provide technical direction, training, performance feedback, and workforce development for field staff.
• Lead safety briefings, job safety task analyses, incident investigations, and compliance with operational standards.
• Direct testing and commissioning of transformers, instrument transformers, medium- and high-voltage breakers, switchgear, and station auxiliary systems.
• Review commissioning reports and quality documentation, resolve technical issues with project managers and engineering, and support proposals and estimates.

Requirements

• Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, electrical engineering technology, or a related technical field, or equivalent field experience.
• At least 7 years of progressive experience in high-voltage electrical testing and commissioning, including supervisory and project management responsibilities.
• Comprehensive knowledge of protective relay, power apparatus, circuit breaker, cable, station auxiliary system, and full-system commissioning.
• Ability to manage project scope, schedules, budgets, revenue, cost tracking, margins, crews, and resources.
• Ability to interpret complex electrical drawings, schematics, one-line and three-line diagrams, wiring diagrams, and protection schemes.
• Valid driver’s license, willingness to travel extensively, ability to pass a background check and drug screen, and a TWIC card or ability to obtain one.

Nice to have

• Experience with Doble, Megger, Omicron, or similar testing platforms.
• Electric utility transmission and distribution construction or industrial commissioning experience.
• Experience with SCADA, power line carrier, infrared thermography, and phasing and loading verification.
• Project management training or certification such as PMP or CAPM.
