TL;DR
Senior Electrical & Instrument Technician (Hydrogen): Maintaining and troubleshooting electrical, instrumentation, control, and industrial gas systems at a hydrogen liquefaction plant with an accent on medium- and high-voltage equipment, process controls, and preventive maintenance. Focus on diagnosing complex electrical systems, supporting plant reliability, coordinating contractors and vendors, and responding to urgent equipment failures.

Location: Hydrogen plant in St. Gabriel, Louisiana; the position summary also references a hydrogen liquefaction plant in Woodbine, Georgia. On-call availability is required, with occasional travel of 0–20% to vendor facilities or other company sites.

What you will do

  • Coordinate installation, troubleshooting, repair, and preventive maintenance of electrical and instrumentation equipment.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot low-voltage systems up to 480 VAC and medium-voltage systems including 34.5 kV and 4.16 kV equipment.
  • Support high-voltage substation and switchyard maintenance, inspections, testing, and calibration while monitoring third-party contractors.
  • Maintain process instrumentation, PLC cabinets, I/O cards, network switches, control systems, and process analytical equipment.
  • Execute work orders and planned maintenance activities in a CMMS such as Maximo, eMaint, or SAP.
  • Coordinate with engineering, reliability teams, contractors, OEM vendors, and suppliers while mentoring junior technicians and apprentices.

Requirements

  • At least five years of experience in industrial electrical, controls, instrumentation, or a related field.
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex electrical systems using test equipment, including insulation resistance, hi-pot, voltage verification, phase rotation, switchgear, MCC, and relay testing.
  • Working knowledge of medium- and low-voltage electrical systems, instrumentation, control systems, industrial gas systems, and components.
  • Ability to read schematics, P&IDs, electrical one-line diagrams, panel wiring diagrams, and OEM manuals.
  • Ability to work independently, respond to urgent repair needs, and participate in on-call coverage.
  • NFPA 70E and high-voltage electrical safety training is preferred or must be completed.

Nice to have

  • Associate or vocational degree in electrical engineering or a related field.
  • Experience with industrial DCS or PLC systems.
  • Experience with SEL 751, SEL 787, SEL 710, UMC-100, and E-300 relays.
