What you will do

  • Conduct daily safety walkthroughs, inspections, audits, and compliance reviews of construction activities, contractors, equipment, and work operations.
  • Oversee high-risk work including excavation, fall protection, crane and rigging operations, electrical work, roadway closures, utility work, and traffic maintenance.
  • Monitor nighttime operations, including lighting, traffic controls, and required safety measures.
  • Participate in investigations of incidents, near misses, and property damage; help identify root causes and track corrective actions.
  • Review contractor safety documents, pre-task plans, orientations, training records, and certifications.
  • Prepare daily safety reports, track safety metrics, conduct toolbox talks, and support a proactive safety culture.

Requirements

  • At least 10 years of progressively responsible construction safety experience, including field inspection and compliance oversight.
  • High school diploma or GED required; a bachelor's degree in occupational safety, construction management, or engineering is preferred.
  • Strong working knowledge of OSHA Construction Standards, 29 CFR 1926, and experience with large infrastructure, utility, transportation, or industrial projects.
  • Experience conducting safety audits, investigations, and risk mitigation, with proficiency in Microsoft Office and electronic safety management systems.
  • Valid driver's license required for site access.
  • Professional safety certifications such as OSHA 500/510, CHST, CSP, ASP, or CSHO, plus First Aid/CPR/AED certification, are highly preferred.
