Risk Control Technical Consultant Construction Safety

Location: Houston, Texas, United States. The role requires a consistent field presence, with approximately 20%–50% of time onsite with customers and occasional long-distance or overnight travel.

Salary: $94,400–$155,800 annual base salary, plus eligibility for performance-based cash incentive awards.

What you will do

• Evaluate hazards, controls, management practices, and inherent risks for moderate- to highly complex accounts.
• Conduct onsite risk assessments for large, multi-location companies, fleet exposures, and accounts with significant potential losses.
• Prepare technically detailed reports with clear risk assessments and actionable recommendations.
• Analyze losses and customer readiness to recommend risk control products and services.
• Identify uncontrolled exposures and influence customers to implement corrective actions and mitigate losses.
• Partner with Underwriting, Claims, Risk Control Specialists, and Brokers to select, retain, and grow profitable business.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or graduate degree in environmental health and safety, engineering, construction management, basic sciences, or a related technical field.
• At least five years of experience in safety, risk control or management, occupational or environmental health and safety, science, engineering, construction, manufacturing, or relevant military work.
• Valid driver's license required.
• Ability to obtain certifications required by applicable states.
• Strong insurance industry knowledge, business acumen, technical aptitude, critical thinking, communication, influencing, and negotiation skills.
• Recognized certifications such as ASP, CSP, ARM, or CFPS are relevant to the role.
