Director of Engineering (AI)

Salary: $135,200–$236,600 per year, plus incentive eligibility.

What you will do

• Lead engineering teams through coaching, mentorship, performance management, recruiting, and career development.
• Translate enterprise, product, and business strategies into technical roadmaps and delivery plans.
• Partner with Product Management, Architecture, Data Science, Data Engineering, Security, Operations, and business stakeholders to deliver AI-enabled analytics applications.
• Establish engineering standards and architectural practices for quality, security, scalability, reliability, and operational excellence.
• Drive Agile, AI Development Lifecycle, DevSecOps, MLOps, CI/CD, Infrastructure as Code, automated testing, and observability practices.
• Lead risk assessment, resource planning, dependency management, engineering metrics, and resolution of complex cross-team challenges.

Requirements

• Relevant experience of 7 or more years; a relevant or advanced degree is preferred.
• Successful leadership of engineering organizations in a matrixed environment and alignment of technical strategy with business objectives.
• Experience building and scaling software engineering teams delivering enterprise SaaS, cloud-native, AI-enabled, or analytics applications.
• Experience delivering enterprise-scale solutions on Microsoft Azure or other public cloud platforms.
• Strong understanding of software architecture, distributed systems, APIs, microservices, cloud-native engineering, and platform engineering.
• Strong leadership, communication, stakeholder management, coaching, organizational development, and strategic planning skills.

Nice to have

• Experience with artificial intelligence, machine learning, generative AI, large language models, retrieval-augmented generation, intelligent automation, or analytics platforms.
• Experience with Databricks, Microsoft Fabric, Azure AI Services, Azure OpenAI, lakehouse architectures, or vector databases.
• Experience with healthcare, healthcare analytics, SaaS, or other regulated industries.
