General Counsel, United Kingdom & Ireland (UK&I) (Consumer Goods)

Location: London - The Shard, United Kingdom; travel within the UK and Ireland and, where relevant, to other European hirify.global sites may be required.

What you will do

• Advise the UK&I Managing Director and leadership team on strategic and sensitive business matters.
• Lead the UK&I legal team of three lawyers and one legal trainee.
• Provide guidance on food law, marketing claims, consumer protection, packaging, competition, compliance, and other regulatory developments.
• Support strategic negotiations across the supply chain, from suppliers to retail and away-from-home customers.
• Manage escalated commercial, regulatory, reputational, compliance, and crisis matters.
• Protect the company, its brands, people, and intellectual property through litigation, brand protection, compliance, and external stakeholder engagement.

Requirements

• Qualified lawyer with at least 8 years of experience, ideally in leading law firms and consumer goods companies.
• Strong knowledge and experience in competition, consumer, and marketing law.
• Experience advising senior business leaders and strong UK commercial and customer-facing legal experience.
• Strong leadership, judgment, business acumen, organizational, communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently, influence stakeholders across the organization, and manage complex and sensitive matters.
