TL;DR
Senior Legal Counsel (AI/media): Providing commercial legal support for the Sky News 2030 strategy, digital transformation, product launches, technology contracts, and AI integration with an accent on complex commercial agreements, content and distribution arrangements, and contractual risk. Focus on negotiating strategic partnerships, advising senior stakeholders, managing external counsel, and developing efficient contracting processes.
Location: London, UK; hybrid working with 3 days per week in the office

What you will do
- Provide commercial legal support for the News 2030 strategy and strategic projects.
- Draft, review and negotiate strategic partnership, technology, digital, content, distribution, supplier and services agreements.
- Advise the business on commercial and contractual risks and develop pragmatic solutions.
- Work with editorial, commercial, product, technology, finance and other stakeholders across News.
- Instruct and manage external legal advisers, including oversight of their work and budget.
- Improve contracting efficiency through templates, processes, training and knowledge sharing.
Requirements
- Qualified solicitor or barrister.
- Strong post-qualification experience in commercial law, contract drafting and negotiation.
- Experience managing complex commercial agreements and advising on contractual risks.
- Strong commercial judgement, communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Experience working with senior business stakeholders and supporting complex or evolving projects.
- Experience in media, broadcasting, content, technology or another digitally focused business.
- Appropriate right to work in the UK is required; visa sponsorship is not available.
Nice to have
- Experience with copyright, intellectual property and rights issues.
- Experience with strategic partnerships, technology, digital platform or AI-related contracting.
- Experience with content licensing, distribution or acquisition.
- Experience supporting transformation projects, new products or commercial models.
