Senior Kubernetes Platform Engineer (AWS)

Location: Hybrid role based in Lafayette, Louisiana; Knoxville, Tennessee; Columbia, South Carolina; or Birmingham, Alabama

Salary: $89,600–$123,200 annually

What you will do

• Own the full Kubernetes lifecycle, including cluster provisioning, upgrades, node management, and retirement planning.
• Manage multiple production Amazon EKS environments and optimize networking, ingress, traffic security, autoscaling, resource tuning, and scheduling.
• Establish observability for metrics, logs, traces, and alerting across containerized workloads.
• Implement Kubernetes security controls including RBAC, policy enforcement, image controls, secrets management, and runtime hardening.
• Build platform automation with Infrastructure as Code and GitOps workflows.
• Support incident response and troubleshoot performance issues in production services.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in DevOps, SRE, or platform engineering with significant hands-on Kubernetes production experience.
• Experience managing production Kubernetes environments at scale, especially Amazon EKS.
• Strong knowledge of AWS VPC, IAM, load balancers, storage integrations, and networking and security fundamentals.
• Hands-on experience with container deployment strategies and reliability engineering.
• Practical Terraform or CloudFormation automation experience.
• Experience with monitoring, logging, alerting, Kubernetes security, and a relevant bachelor's degree.

Nice to have

• Exposure to GitLab CI/CD pipelines for Kubernetes deployments.
• Experience standardizing platforms or managing multiple clusters across teams.
