Sr. Platform Engineer

Location: Remote in the United States; listed location is Rochester, Minnesota. No visa sponsorship or visa transfer is available.

Salary: $127,900–$185,500 per year

What you will do

• Design, build, and operate Google Cloud infrastructure covering networking, IAM, compute, storage, and managed data services.
• Build the cloud control plane with Crossplane and maintain reusable Terraform modules with testing and policy validation.
• Operate production Kubernetes clusters, troubleshoot Linux and container runtime issues, and manage capacity, networking, storage, autoscaling, and multi-tenancy.
• Develop Go-based platform APIs, services, and controllers that enable self-service cloud resource provisioning.
• Build CI/CD and GitOps workflows with GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, and Argo CD, including automation, testing, security scanning, and environment promotion.
• Define service reliability objectives, lead incident response and postmortems, optimize cloud spend, and contribute to the platform roadmap while mentoring engineers.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant information technology field, or at least 7 years of directly relevant infrastructure, platform, or backend engineering experience.
• 3–5 years of professional cloud engineering experience supporting production platform services.
• Production experience with Google Cloud or another major cloud provider, Terraform, Linux administration, CI/CD pipelines, and backend APIs.
• Proficiency in Go or another backend language with readiness to work primarily in Go; scripting experience with Bash and Python.
• Experience with secure software development, access control, data protection, auditability, and sensitive or regulated data.
• Must be eligible to work in the United States; visa sponsorship, visa transfer, and F-1 STEM OPT sponsorship are not available.

Nice to have

• Experience with Crossplane, Config Connector, Docker, Kubernetes, service mesh, API gateways, or distributed systems.
• Knowledge of healthcare privacy, security, and compliance requirements, including HIPAA.
• Experience with policy-as-code, admission control, Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry, or multi-cloud environments.
• Google Cloud Professional Cloud Architect, Professional Cloud DevOps Engineer, CKA, or CKAD certification.
