CNC Machinist - Christchurch (Aerospace)

What you will do

• Create and optimise CNC programs using Fusion 360, TopSolid, SolidCAM, or similar CAM software.
• Design fixturing, select tooling and workholding, and machine complex components from raw and additively manufactured materials.
• Set up and operate CNC machines, prove out programs, and transition prototypes into reliable production processes.
• Inspect precision components using measurement equipment and maintain tight tolerances and quality standards.
• Improve cycle times, tooling, fixturing, machining methods, quality, and process reliability.
• Collaborate with engineers and technicians to solve machining and design challenges across the product lifecycle.

Requirements

• 5+ years of CNC machining experience.
• Proven ability to program, set up, and operate CNC machines.
• Strong understanding of machining processes, tooling, and workholding.
• Ability to read engineering drawings and complex GD&T requirements.
• Experience inspecting precision components against specifications.
• Strong problem-solving, communication, collaboration, independence, and ownership skills.

Nice to have

• Experience with Fusion 360, TopSolid, SolidCAM, Fanuc, or Heidenhain controllers.
• Experience machining aerospace, motorsport, medical, or other high-precision components.
• Experience with mill-turn or multi-axis machining environments.
• Experience with DMG MORI NTX 1000, NLX 2000, DMU 50, or HAAS VM2 and VF2 machines.
