TL;DR
Lead Mechanical & Piping Project Engineer (Mechanical & Piping): Leading multidisciplinary CAPEX projects from concept through construction and commissioning with an accent on mechanical and piping design, technical quality, and owner-side engineering direction. Focus on evaluating equipment and piping concepts, coordinating EPCm partners and contractors, and solving complex safety, reliability, constructability, cost, and lifecycle challenges in an operational industrial environment.

Location: Olen, Belgium; 100% onsite presence

What you will do

  • Lead the technical delivery of multidisciplinary CAPEX projects from concept through execution, commissioning, start-up, and handover.
  • Develop and safeguard the technical basis, design philosophy, scope, battery limits, and engineering quality.
  • Lead Mechanical & Piping design, including layouts, P&IDs, equipment specifications, piping classifications, routes, and isometrics.
  • Coordinate process, E&I, automation, civil, safety, and infrastructure disciplines and organize design reviews.
  • Direct EPCm partners, suppliers, and contractors, including technical specifications, tender packages, bid evaluations, inspections, FAT, SAT, installation, and punch lists.
  • Identify technical and project risks, support the Project Manager with recommendations, and coach engineers on standards and lessons learned.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in a technical field, or equivalent demonstrable experience; electromechanics or chemical technology is relevant.
  • Extensive industrial or process engineering experience with specialist Mechanical & Piping expertise.
  • Experience delivering multidisciplinary CAPEX projects from concept through completion and providing technical direction to engineering partners and contractors.
  • Knowledge of Mechanical & Piping standards and practices, including PED, ATEX, and EN 13480.
  • VCA-VOL certification is required, or must be obtained before the assignment starts.
  • Fluent Dutch and professional English; the role requires 100% onsite presence in Olen, Belgium.

Nice to have

  • Knowledge of AutoCAD Plant 3D.
