Transmission Planning Advisor (Electrical Utility)

Location: Hybrid position based at the Santa Ana Service Center; employees are required to work and reside in California. The role includes up to 20% travel and field work across the SCE service territory, with possible extended assignments at alternate locations.

Salary: $126,000–$189,000 per year

What you will do

• Design and plan overhead and underground transmission, sub-transmission, and distribution facilities.
• Develop project scopes, cost estimates, material requirements, construction plans, outage coordination, schedules, and operating deadlines.
• Coordinate with Operations, Engineering, Environmental, contractors, government agencies, and other stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.
• Lead environmental planning, permitting, system performance studies, and compliance reviews.
• Review contractor and peer designs, provide technical direction, manage workload, and support team training.
• Perform field inspections and maintain accurate circuit maps and geospatial records for utility assets.

Requirements

• Five or more years of experience in electrical utility distribution, transmission, telecommunications design or construction, or an engineering discipline.
• Valid Class C driver's license.
• Advanced knowledge of engineering principles, construction standards, and industry practices.
• Experience leading complex technical projects, reviewing designs, managing risks, and coordinating cross-functional stakeholders.
• Ability to manage multiple sensitive projects under tight timelines and address difficult stakeholder issues independently.
• Ability to work and reside in California and travel up to 20% for field activities.

Nice to have

• Proficiency with AUD, SPIDA, AutoCAD, or Design Manager.
• Experience with customer or stakeholder interactions in technical, construction, or utility environments.
