Staff Mechanical Engineer (Optical Transceivers)

What you will do

• Lead the mechanical architecture and detailed design of 1.6T and 2.4T optical transceiver modules, including OSFP and other high-density form factors.
• Design module housings, cages, heat sinks, optical receptacles, brackets, shields, gaskets, and sealing structures.
• Develop thermal, EMI shielding, ESD, environmental sealing, contamination-control, shock, and vibration solutions.
• Perform tolerance stack-up analysis and lead mechanical verification, qualification, reliability testing, and failure analysis.
• Drive DFM/DFA activities and collaborate with manufacturing, quality, reliability, suppliers, and cross-functional engineering teams.
• Provide technical leadership, mentor mechanical engineers, support customer reviews, and manage suppliers and tooling partners.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field.
• 6+ years of mechanical design and development experience with optical transceivers, high-speed communication modules, optoelectronic packages, or precision electronic products.
• Experience developing high-density, high-power optical modules, preferably 800G, 1.6T, or 2.4T products.
• Strong knowledge of mechanical design, material selection, tolerance analysis, GD&T, thermal management, and reliability engineering.
• Proficiency with 3D CAD tools such as Creo, SolidWorks, or NX, plus 2D drawings and engineering documentation.
• Effective written and spoken English communication is required.

Nice to have

• Experience with OSFP, QSFP-DD, optical alignment, fiber-optic connectors, TOSA/ROSA packaging, or optoelectronic assembly.
• Knowledge of EMI/EMC shielding, ESD control, environmental sealing, contamination control, and thermal simulation tools such as FloTHERM, Icepak, or ANSYS.
• Experience with reliability testing, failure analysis, statistical or tolerance analysis, global customers, and international suppliers.
