System Design Engineer (Semiconductor)

Location: Hsinchu, Taiwan; work at customer sites and travel to customer sites, including extended stays

What you will do

• Develop, integrate, and characterize systems combining electron sources, detectors, electro-optical components, vacuum, high-voltage electronics, signal and image processing, and machine-control software.
• Lead complex technical problem solving and system development at customer sites, including root-cause analysis across system and subsystem interactions.
• Develop and release new options, features, and cost-reduction improvements based on customer use cases and cross-functional requirements.
• Coordinate system usage and support health checks, maintenance, troubleshooting, repairs, calibrations, upgrades, testing, debugging, revision control, and measurement-performance analysis.
• Contribute to design reviews, engineering and alpha builds, tolerance and specification testing, system diagnostics, and training for service and manufacturing employees.
• Work with experts in e-beam optics, lasers, stages, loaders, image computing, and algorithms to resolve technical issues.

Requirements

• Doctorate with 0 years of related experience, or a master’s degree with 3 years of related experience, or a bachelor’s degree with 5 years of related experience.
• Physics background sufficient to understand complex systems and resolve subsystem-level issues.
• Strong technical problem-solving skills using Design of Experiments.
• Experience or knowledge in machine vision, optical or electro-optical systems, or electron microscopes.
• Python scripting experience for data collection, advanced analysis, and visualization.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills and a collaborative approach.
