Senior Unix Engineer (Hybrid)

Location: Hybrid in Manila, 6805 Ayala Ave; engagements outside core business hours may be required.

What you will do

• Design, deploy, administer, and operationalize UNIX/Linux infrastructure across on-premise, IBM Cloud, and public cloud environments.
• Contribute to UNIX/Linux strategy, infrastructure roadmaps, project planning, estimates, capacity planning, and performance analytics.
• Build OS images, patch bundles, scripts, automation, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Write code in Python, Ruby, and Go, and define desired state using Chef or Ansible.
• Act as the final escalation point for high-severity production incidents and help prevent outages.
• Collaborate with and supervise vendors, managed service providers, engineers, managers, business stakeholders, and clients.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in a similar engineering role.
• 5+ years of experience engineering Linux, AIX, and Solaris environments.
• 5+ years of experience with VMware-based virtualization.
• 2+ years of experience with AWS or Azure, including EC2, S3, AMI, EBS, IAM, and VPC.
• Experience with Bash and several scripting languages, including Python, Ruby, or Go; knowledge of SAN, multipath, storage, and clustering technologies.
• Ability to communicate clearly and create standard operating procedures, documentation, strategy documents, and roadmaps.

Nice to have

• Experience with Ansible, Chef, Terraform, Jenkins, Greenplum, Kubernetes, OpenShift, Datadog, Splunk, ELK, Zerto, and VMware vSphere.
• Knowledge of networking protocols, switching, routing, firewalls, IP subnets, load balancing, and infrastructure as code.
• Experience with Veritas or PCS clustering technologies and classic AIX or Solaris environments.
