Senior Backend Engineer (Cybersecurity)

Location: Hybrid role based in New York, NY, USA; office attendance required twice a week

Salary: $140,000–$215,000 per year, plus potential bonuses, equity grants, and benefits

Cybersecurity company building an AI-native platform that protects organizations by detecting and preventing breaches at internet scale.

What you will do

• Design and implement platform services that ingest, process, and route security events across execution contexts.
• Drive the architecture of the Detection Content Management Platform and build CI/CD and DevOps tooling for detections-as-code.
• Develop scalable, fault-tolerant microservices using Go, Kubernetes, Flink, and distributed databases.
• Contribute to the Unified Detections Management system and implement Policy, Flight Control, and Observability capabilities.
• Mentor engineers, lead complex technical initiatives, and align roadmaps with Product Management and partner engineering teams.

Requirements

• 8+ years of professional software development experience focused on large-scale distributed systems.
• Deep expertise in a modern programming language, preferably Go, with experience in Java or Python.
• Experience architecting highly available cloud platform services using AWS, GCP, or Azure.
• Strong experience with Kafka, Flink, distributed computing, and real-time data processing.
• Experience driving multi-quarter initiatives and influencing technical direction across teams.
• Experience using AI technologies to improve decision-making, workflows, and business outcomes.

Nice to have

• Cybersecurity or SIEM experience, including detection data models and content or rule authoring lifecycles.
• Experience with query languages, runtime environments, low-latency event processing, or pattern matching.
• Experience building platforms for developers or content authors.
