Assistant or Associate Professor of Curriculum and Instruction

Location: Victoria Campus, Victoria, Texas, United States; onsite, tenure-track faculty position.

What you will do

• Teach undergraduate and graduate Curriculum and Instruction courses in traditional and online formats.
• Teach and support methods courses for candidates pursuing EC–6, 4–8, and secondary content-area certification.
• Support undergraduate teacher preparation and graduate Curriculum and Instruction programs.
• Collaborate with faculty to strengthen candidates’ content knowledge, pedagogical content knowledge, and use of evidence-based instructional practices.
• Contribute to curriculum development, program assessment, continuous improvement, and university service.
• Maintain a scholarly agenda appropriate for a tenure-track faculty appointment.

Requirements

• Earned doctorate in Curriculum and Instruction or a closely related field, with at least 18 graduate credit hours in one of the specialization areas completed by December 2026.
• ABD candidates may be considered with a clearly established completion date.
• Evidence of strong higher-education teaching and at least three years of PK–12 classroom teaching experience in the relevant content area.
• Strong understanding of effective pedagogy across grade levels and educator preparation and teacher certification expectations.
• Expertise in one of the following areas: K–12 Mathematics Education, K–12 Science Education, Literacy Studies, or K–12 Physical Education.
• Work is based at the Victoria Campus in Victoria, Texas.

Nice to have

• Excellence in university teaching in traditional and online environments.
• Experience preparing teachers for diverse PK–12 settings and supporting preservice or practicing teachers.
• Knowledge of Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills, Texas Education Agency requirements, and Texas educator certification standards.
• Experience with content-area curriculum development, assessment, data-informed instruction, and Texas certification examinations.
• Collaborative relationships with schools, districts, Education Service Centers, and other educational partners.
