Director of Strategic Finance (Fintech)

Location: Austin, Texas, USA; some travel is required.

What you will do

• Build and own the master financial model for scenarios involving approximately 50 million, 100 million, and 400 million global users.
• Develop bottom-up economic models for ticketing, travel, VIP hospitality, gaming, Mini Programs, third-party commerce, sponsorships, payments, wallets, transaction processing, and exchange capabilities.
• Model revenue drivers, transaction volumes, pricing, margins, operating expenses, cash utilization, capital requirements, unit economics, and long-term profitability.
• Build dynamic scenario analysis allowing assumptions to flow through business-unit and consolidated company financials.
• Work directly with the Founder & CEO and future finance and business-unit leaders.
• Own strategic planning, forecasting, budgeting, KPI development, financial reporting, and the broader finance function as the company grows.

Requirements

• 10+ years of progressive experience in strategic finance, investment banking, private equity, growth equity, corporate development, fintech, payments, marketplaces, gaming, exchanges, or transaction-driven businesses.
• Demonstrated ability to build complex integrated financial models from the ground up, including three-statement models, cash flow, valuation, capital structure, sensitivity analysis, and financing scenarios.
• Deep understanding of payments, financial networks, marketplaces, platforms, exchanges, transaction volumes, take rates, liquidity, spreads, and network effects.
• Experience modeling consumer platforms at scale, including user acquisition, activation, engagement, retention, cohort behavior, monetization, and multiple geographies.
• Advanced Excel and/or Google Sheets skills; experience with SQL, Python, BI platforms, financial planning systems, or AI-assisted financial analysis is valuable.
• Must be willing to personally build detailed analyses and work directly with founders and senior technical and product leadership in an early-stage environment.

Nice to have

• Experience with gaming, sports betting, fixed-odds betting, prediction markets, gaming taxes, or jurisdiction-specific economics.
• Experience supporting capital raises, M&A transactions, strategic investments, IPO preparation, or institutional financing.
• MBA, CFA, CPA, or an advanced degree in finance, economics, accounting, or a quantitative discipline.
• Experience at a leading investment bank, private equity or growth equity firm, major fintech or payments company, global technology platform, or successful venture-backed company.
• Understanding of football and international sports.
