Substation Designer (AutoCAD)

Location: Onsite positions available in Lewis Center, Ohio; King of Prussia, Pennsylvania; Alpharetta, Georgia; Charlotte, North Carolina; and Wesley Chapel, Florida.

Salary: $25.00–$45.00 per hour, depending on location, experience, training, knowledge, and skills.

What you will do

• Create detailed physical and electrical designs for high-voltage substations under the supervision of a technical lead.
• Prepare CAD drawings and project documentation, including general arrangements, section and elevation views, conduit, grounding, fencing, lighting, and foundation plans.
• Develop bills of materials and support project estimates.
• Provide design engineering support to project technical leads and complete assigned work within timelines, budgets, and quality expectations.
• Assist and mentor junior designers and drafters with technical tasks.
• Maintain knowledge of company equipment, power-system protection, automation solutions, and industry design practices.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in engineering technology or a related design discipline, or an associate's degree in electrical engineering technology, CAD, drafting, or a relevant field; equivalent experience may be considered.
• Four or more years of relevant high-voltage electrical design experience, including several substation design or protective relay control system projects.
• Experience with an electrical utility, consulting organization, or system integrator.
• Knowledge of protective relay applications and/or automation applications.
• Competency in CAD drafting using AutoCAD, Civil 3D, or MicroStation.
• Ability to learn technical product concepts and details.
