Substation Protection & Control Designer (Electrical Engineering)

Location: Fully remote; can only be performed in the United States

What you will do

• Design relay, protection, and control projects for high-voltage substations operating from 12kV to 500kV.
• Prepare relay one-line and three-line diagrams, AC/DC schematics, panel layouts, wiring diagrams, and cable schedules.
• Develop SCADA, communication, and point-to-point wiring diagrams.
• Coordinate with physical design, settings, and drafting disciplines to deliver accurate design packages.
• Interpret vendor information, apply client standards, and follow company QA/QC processes.
• Continuously improve job-related engineering, technical, and professional skills.

Requirements

• Must be located in the United States because the role is nationwide remote within the US.
• AA degree or high school diploma.
• Experience with transmission substation design.
• At least 3 years of detailed wiring design experience, including single lines, schematics, and relay panels.
• At least 3 years of experience with Bluebeam, AutoCAD, Inventor, and MicroStation.
• Understanding of AC/DC control diagrams, point-to-point wiring, and relevant NEC, NESC, IEEE, and ANSI standards.

Nice to have

• Ability to assist lead engineers with initial design requirements.
• Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Word.
• Knowledge of techniques and tools used to produce technical plans, blueprints, and drawings.
