TL;DR
Network Tier 3 Engineer (EACN/network infrastructure): Designing, integrating, testing, and troubleshooting operational gateway and Systems Integration Lab network environments with an accent on routing, switching, firewalls, secure communications, and configuration control. Focus on resolving complex gateway issues, validating hardware and software changes before deployment, maintaining fault-tolerant infrastructure, and supporting VoIP and aircraft communications integration.

Location: Onsite at Scott Air Force Base, Illinois, United States; support may also be required at Joint Base Andrews and Joint Base Lewis-McChord. Monday–Friday within 6:30 AM–5:30 PM Central Time. Government-approved travel may be required.

What you will do

  • Design, analyze, integrate, and optimize network technologies and architectures for operational gateways and laboratory environments.
  • Troubleshoot complex network issues affecting gateways, aircraft, and connected platforms.
  • Maintain gateway baseline configurations, configuration control, backups, fault-tolerant designs, and disaster recovery solutions.
  • Install and test software versions, patches, technical orders, hardware, and approved configuration changes in the Systems Integration Lab before operational deployment.
  • Develop installation guides, configuration documentation, topology diagrams, checklists, policies, and troubleshooting procedures.
  • Support VoIP sustainment, equipment installation and replacement, configuration training, network statistics collection, and system health analysis.

Requirements

  • Active Top Secret security clearance required.
  • 5+ years of relevant network engineering experience.
  • Current Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) certification.
  • Ability to work onsite at Scott Air Force Base.
  • Ability to meet applicable DoD workforce, information assurance, network, and privileged-access certification requirements.
  • Working knowledge of routing, switching, firewalls, IPv4/IPv6, VLANs, VPNs, encryption, network management, and communications transport technologies.
