Core Network Administrator II (IP/MPLS)

Location: Anchorage, Alaska, United States; remote work eligible with restrictions, with occasional onsite support and travel between locations as needed.

What you will do

• Administer and support core IP, MPLS, carrier Ethernet, LAN, WAN, internet, and wireless/data IP network systems.
• Configure, troubleshoot, secure, and optimize multi-vendor routers, switches, firewalls, and related network equipment.
• Monitor network availability and performance, resolve outages and chronic service issues, and support incident management.
• Plan and execute software, firmware, hardware, and security upgrades, including lab validation and change management.
• Test redundancy and high-availability designs, maintain configuration backups, and perform QA/QC for network projects.
• Provide physical break/fix support, maintain network assets and documentation, and guide junior technicians and Tier I teams.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent and an associate degree in telecommunications, computer science, networking, or a related field.
• At least six years of combined experience with network platforms, LAN/WAN networking, telecommunications, wireless data/IP networks, routers, or switches.
• Strong knowledge of IPv4, IPv6, IP routing, MPLS VPNs, VRFs, VPLSs, pseudowires, QoS, and network timing protocols.
• Experience configuring and troubleshooting Nokia, Cisco, Juniper, and Brocade routers and switches, Palo Alto firewalls, and Cisco NCS platforms.
• Ability to work assigned shifts, provide emergency after-hours contact information, and support occasional travel and onsite break/fix activities.
• Remote workers must comply with applicable remote work policies and agreements.

Nice to have

• Experience with Cherwell, Metasolv, Statseeker, Cacti, Grafana, Cisco Prime, Cisco ISE, SNMP-based management systems, and IP networking automation.
• Cisco WLC experience and relevant telecommunications certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, CCIE, Nokia NRS, or Juniper JNCIA/JNCIP/JNCIE.
