Mobile Unit Engineer (Broadcast): Leading the daily operation, maintenance, and technical readiness of mobile broadcast units for live productions with an accent on system configuration, live troubleshooting, and crew leadership. Focus on diagnosing complex video, audio, networking, EVS, intercom, and broadcast control systems during high-pressure events.

Location: Seattle, Washington, United States; extensive travel to live events, approximately 240 days per year

What you will do

  • Oversee technical and engineering operations for assigned mobile broadcast units at remote production sites.
  • Lead show builds, system configuration, testing, live production execution, troubleshooting, and teardown.
  • Serve as the on-site technical authority and primary client point of contact.
  • Direct engineering crews, assign tasks, schedule personnel, and provide technical mentorship.
  • Coordinate equipment, staffing, logistics, maintenance, repairs, upgrades, and asset management.
  • Prepare post-event technical reports and communicate show status, risks, and operational changes to management.

Requirements

  • 4–5+ years of progressive experience in remote broadcast engineering or a related technical field.
  • Engineer-in-Charge-level leadership experience supervising technical teams and executing complex live productions.
  • Advanced knowledge of broadcast engineering, mobile television production, and major commercial or cable network productions.
  • Hands-on experience with video, audio, graphics, cameras, routing, intercoms, IP workflows, and Layer 2/3 networking, including TCP/IP, multicast, VLANs, QoS, and bandwidth management.
  • Experience with EVS equipment, broadcast control systems, Calrec audio consoles, and Grass Valley production switchers.
  • Valid U.S. passport and willingness to travel extensively, approximately 240 days per year, are required.
