Chief Engineer (Broadcast Engineering)

Salary: Starting at $130,000 per year, based on experience

What you will do

• Lead the Engineering Department and oversee day-to-day station engineering operations.
• Manage, mentor, and develop local engineering staff while assigning projects and tracking deadlines.
• Modernize technical infrastructure and implement new broadcast and information technology systems with station and corporate leadership.
• Maintain broadcast technology, IT systems, security operations, transmitters, and related equipment.
• Ensure compliance with FCC requirements and applicable local, state, and federal regulations.
• Develop capital project plans, manage operating budgets, and provide rapid resolution for issues affecting on-air operations.

Requirements

• Technical degree in digital electronics, broadcasting, or a related field, or equivalent education and experience.
• At least five years of experience with digital electronics systems in television broadcasting, including three years in a leadership role.
• Experience leading engineering teams, setting performance standards, managing development, and collaborating with cross-functional stakeholders.
• Experience with fiber connectivity, production setups, A/V routing and patching, audio equipment, graphics systems, and editing systems.
• Experience with digital transmitters, microwave equipment, broadcast equipment, and information technology systems.
• Fluent English and a valid driver’s license with a good driving record are required. The role also requires frequent standing, crawling, climbing, working in tight spaces, and lifting or carrying 50–100 pounds.
