Product Designer, Internal Tools

Location: Remote in Canada or the United States, or office-based; office-assigned employees spend at least 50% of each month in their local office or with users. Remote employees work primarily from home and may attend meetings, off-sites, meet-ups, and events. Stripe does not cover relocation to a remote location.

Annual US base salary: $159,300–$238,900. Applicants outside the US may request the salary range for their location during the interview process.

What you will do

• Own end-to-end design for internal tools, from discovery and problem framing through interaction design, prototyping, and implementation support.
• Partner with engineers and product managers to define requirements and create clear, usable solutions.
• Conduct lightweight research and usability sessions with internal users.
• Build consistency across internal tools in coordination with the Sail Design team and Stripe design system.
• Make design trade-offs and deliver pragmatic solutions while maintaining product quality.
• Advocate for internal users and improve product design standards.

Requirements

• 5+ years of product design experience with a portfolio showing strong UX thinking, visual craft, and comfort with ambiguity.
• Experience designing complex or data-heavy workflows, such as internal tools, developer tools, or operations platforms.
• Ability to lead discovery, write problem briefs, design, prototype, and support shipping.
• Strong systems-thinking and experience identifying patterns, reusable components, and structural solutions.
• Strong collaboration and communication skills across cross-functional teams.
• Proficiency in Figma and comfort working with a design system.

Nice to have

• Experience with internal-facing or enterprise tooling.
• Experience contributing to a design system.
• Experience with information architecture, navigation, search, or content modeling.
• Background in or interest in developer tooling, operations platforms, or workflow automation.
