Member of Technical Staff - Full Stack Engineer, ML Efficiency & Observability (AI)

Location: Mountain View, United States. Employees living within 50 miles of a designated U.S. Microsoft office are expected to work from that office at least four days a week.

Salary: USD $119,800–$234,700 per year for IC4 roles across the U.S.; USD $142,800–$274,800 per year for IC5 roles. San Francisco Bay Area and New York City metropolitan area ranges differ.

What you will do

• Design and develop features for a capacity management portal.
• Build observability features for model performance and quality across the ML fleet.
• Partner with ML researchers and product managers to turn requirements into intuitive interfaces.
• Integrate backend APIs from schedulers and training frameworks to provide visibility across the training lifecycle.
• Contribute to internal tooling, infrastructure, and software development process improvements.
• Apply high-quality engineering practices and influence architectural decisions.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, mathematics, software engineering, computer engineering, or a related field, plus 4+ years of technical engineering experience, or equivalent experience.
• 4+ years of experience in business analytics, data science, software development, data modeling, or data engineering.
• Professional coding experience with languages including C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python.
• Strong expertise in JavaScript or TypeScript, React, HTML, CSS, and browser internals.
• Strong understanding of web performance, accessibility, and cross-browser compatibility.
• Work from a designated Microsoft office at least four days a week when living within the applicable distance of that office.

Nice to have

• 6+ years of relevant experience with a bachelor’s degree, or 4+ years with a master’s degree.
• Experience with capacity management, efficiency management, ML training, or inference.
• Experience with Visual Studio or Visual Studio Code development and debugging.
• Software development experience with generative AI tools.
• Experience leading technical projects and supporting architecture decisions with data.
