Stop Loss Consultant (Insurance)

Location: Remote within the United States

Salary: $71,800–$133,700 base salary per year, plus potential performance-based incentives.

What you will do

• Partner with carriers and internal teams to coordinate client renewals, data collection, and stop-loss RFP processes.
• Perform underwriting, financial, and risk analysis for employee benefit programs and consulting clients.
• Prepare RFPs, resolve vendor questions, review proposals, validate renewals, and create client exhibits and presentations.
• Analyze and negotiate rates and plan options with insurers to develop cost-competitive benefit plans.
• Support stop-loss captives, claims tracking, panel management, and market trend reporting.
• Develop best-practice recommendations and support models covering self-funding, stop loss, dental, vision, HSAs, FSAs, and COBRA administration.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in risk management and insurance, actuarial science, mathematics, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• At least two years of experience in benefits brokerage, consulting, or the insurance industry.
• Strong experience and knowledge in self-funding and stop-loss underwriting.
• Strong organizational, analytical, troubleshooting, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize work, meet deadlines, and maintain quality standards.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, intermediate MS Office knowledge, and working knowledge of pivot tables.
