Manager, Battery Management Systems, Ford Energy (BMS)

Location: Dearborn, Michigan; hybrid with onsite work required four or more days per week. Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Domestic and occasional international travel is required.

Salary: $141,700–$268,300 per year.

hirify.global Energy is a newly formed hirify.global subsidiary developing, manufacturing, and servicing grid-scale and commercial DC battery energy storage systems.

What you will do

• Lead end-to-end delivery of BMS hardware, embedded software, and system architecture from concept through validation, launch, and production stabilization.
• Direct BMS hardware development covering sensing, isolation monitoring, contactor control, cell balancing, communication interfaces, and integration with EMS, PCS, and SCADA systems.
• Lead diagnostics and prognostics, including SOC/SOH estimation, fault detection, degradation analysis, remaining-useful-life prediction, and predictive maintenance.
• Drive cybersecurity, functional safety, regulatory compliance, requirements flow-down, design reviews, and engineering documentation.
• Manage program timing, scope, risks, suppliers, cost models, manufacturing readiness, quality activities, and executive-level reporting.
• Lead multidisciplinary BMS teams, including hardware, embedded software, platform, controls, and diagnostics, while owning headcount and resource budgets.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related field.
• 10+ years of relevant experience with a bachelor’s degree, or 8+ years with a master’s degree.
• Direct people-management experience leading engineering teams or technical leads.
• Experience delivering BMS hardware and/or software through the full product-development lifecycle.
• Strong knowledge of electrical engineering, control theory, signal processing, and electrochemistry.
• Legal authorization to work in the United States is required; visa sponsorship is not available.

Nice to have

• Automotive BMS/BECM experience applicable to stationary energy storage.
• Experience with LFP cells, prismatic or pouch module and pack designs, and BMS controller or ASIC suppliers.
• Experience with APQP, PPAP, DV/PV, launch readiness, ISO 26262, NERC CIP, or IEC 62443.
• Master’s or PhD in Engineering or a related field.
