TL;DR
Mechanical Spacecraft Technician (I–III) (Spacecraft): Building, integrating, inspecting, and testing spacecraft mechanical hardware from development through environmental testing, flight readiness, and production ramp with an accent on precision assembly, alignment, hardware handling, and configuration control. Focus on supporting vibration, acoustic, and thermal vacuum testing, troubleshooting discrepancies, and maintaining safe, traceable work in cleanroom and ESD-controlled environments.

Location: Fully onsite at the Centennial, CO office. The posting header also references Long Beach, CA.

Base salary: $26.50–$36/hour for Technician I, $31.50–$41.50/hour for Technician II, and $36–$50.50/hour for Technician III. The position is non-exempt and eligible for overtime.

What you will do

  • Build, install, inspect, and integrate spacecraft structures, panels, brackets, payloads, mechanisms, deployables, thermal hardware, and fasteners.
  • Prepare, clean, protect, and handle flight and flight-like hardware while maintaining traceability and configuration control.
  • Perform torqueing, safety wiring, staking, bonding, shimming, alignment, mechanical fastening, fit checks, and dimensional inspections.
  • Support mechanical functional, deployment, alignment, mass properties, vibration, acoustic, thermal vacuum, and other environmental testing.
  • Document discrepancies, support nonconformance investigations, and troubleshoot assembly and integration issues with engineering and quality teams.
  • Operate and maintain hand tools, torque tools, precision measurement equipment, lifting equipment, fixtures, and mechanical ground-support equipment.

Requirements

  • Technical degree, certificate, apprenticeship, or equivalent training in mechanical, aerospace, manufacturing, or a related field.
  • Relevant experience in spacecraft, aerospace, defense, automotive, precision manufacturing, or another high-reliability mechanical assembly environment.
  • Ability to read engineering drawings, schematics, work instructions, process sheets, and assembly procedures.
  • Experience with hand tools, torque tools, precision measurement equipment, mechanical alignment, dimensional inspection, shimming, bonding, staking, or safety wiring.
  • Experience working in ESD-sensitive, FOD-critical, and cleanroom environments, with accurate build, inspection, and test documentation.
  • Must be able to work fully onsite in Centennial, Colorado, lift 25 pounds, and work in or around constrained or confined spaces. Must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, protected individual, or eligible to obtain required ITAR authorizations.

Nice to have

  • Spacecraft or satellite mechanical assembly and integration experience.
  • Experience with deployment systems, hinges, latches, release devices, structural bonding, potting, composites, or additive-manufactured hardware.
  • Experience supporting vibration, acoustic, thermal vacuum, or other environmental testing.
  • Familiarity with GD&T, coordinate measuring machines, laser trackers, optical tooling, or other alignment equipment.
  • Certifications in mechanical assembly, rigging, machining, composites, or cleanroom operations.
