Engineering Technician I (Aerospace)

Location: Onsite at Voyager's Penrose and Pueblo, Colorado facilities. The role includes work in outdoor test areas, active construction sites, and high-hazard explosive manufacturing environments, with up to 10% travel within the continental United States.

Base salary: $32.00–$37.00 per hour.

What you will do

• Receive, inspect, store, handle, and document energetic materials, propellants, pyrotechnics, and related components.
• Prepare rocket motor test facilities, test articles, assemblies, and instrumentation for static-fire and functional testing.
• Support facility activation and commissioning of hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, instrumentation, utility, and safety systems.
• Set up, calibrate, operate, and troubleshoot sensors, data acquisition systems, PLC-controlled equipment, automated test stands, and SCADA-based controls.
• Support solid rocket motor manufacturing, energetic formulation, production documentation, batch records, and quality paperwork.
• Participate in safety briefings, hazard analyses, incident reviews, inspections, and EHS compliance activities.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent with 5 years of relevant hands-on technical experience, or an associate degree/technical training with 3 years of qualifying experience.
• Hands-on experience with energetic materials, propellants, pyrotechnics, or explosives and their safe handling, storage, and processing.
• Experience with facility commissioning, equipment startup, precision measurement, assembly, and interpretation of engineering drawings, P&IDs, wiring schematics, and technical procedures.
• Understanding of applicable DoD, OSHA, ATF, explosive-safety, and facility regulations, with strong documentation and traceability discipline.
• U.S. citizenship and eligibility to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government security clearance are required.
• Applicants must meet U.S. Person/ITAR eligibility requirements and be at least 21 years old, pass drug testing, and complete state and federal background checks.

Nice to have

• Experience with solid rocket motor manufacturing, EOD, military munitions, or aerospace propulsion testing.
• Experience with PLC systems, automated test stands, SCADA, DAQ equipment, accelerometers, strain gauges, thermocouples, or pressure transducers.
• Hazardous-materials, confined-space, fall-protection, forklift, overhead-crane, or rigging certifications.
• Familiarity with Lean manufacturing, 5S, Six Sigma, robotics, or CNC-controlled equipment.
