Focus on developing complex permitting strategies, managing regulatory applications and consultants, identifying project risks, and supporting construction and operations across U.S. jurisdictions.

Location: United States, flexible, Texas; primarily remote with periodic travel to project sites, agency meetings, and company offices

What you will do

  • Lead permitting and land use entitlement for energy facilities across local, state, and federal jurisdictions in the MISO, SPP, and ERCOT regions.
  • Support site screening and development for renewable energy, natural gas generation, powered land, data centers, and related infrastructure.
  • Develop permitting strategies, responsibility matrices, budgets, schedules, permit registers, risk summaries, and decision logs.
  • Lead air permitting, emissions calculations, New Source Review, Title V, air-quality modeling, control-technology evaluations, and public-notice processes.
  • Manage industrial wastewater, stormwater, NPDES, water treatment, discharge, and receiving-water assessment activities.
  • Coordinate agencies, consultants, engineering teams, vendors, communities, landowners, construction, and operations through permitting, handoff, and compliance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or advanced degree in environmental science, environmental engineering, geology, planning, natural resources, or a related discipline.
  • Typically 4–8 years of experience in permitting, environmental planning, or project development.
  • Experience with U.S. state and federal air permitting for combustion sources, including emissions calculations, NSR, Title V, air-quality modeling, and agency coordination.
  • Working knowledge of natural gas generation technologies, industrial NPDES or wastewater discharge permitting, land use and siting, USACE permitting, and USFWS permitting.
  • Experience managing environmental consultants, technical studies, budgets, schedules, permit packages, due diligence, construction handoff, or operational compliance.
  • Ability to travel as needed and proficiency with Microsoft 365 and project-management tools; GIS experience is beneficial.

Nice to have

  • Experience permitting projects across MISO, SPP, or ERCOT jurisdictions, including Texas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, or other central-region states.
  • Experience with major-source or complex minor-source air permitting for combustion turbines, reciprocating engines, or other thermal-generation technologies.
  • Experience with powered land, data center campuses, off-grid or behind-the-meter generation, microgrids, reliability solutions, or co-located energy infrastructure.
