Project Engineer - Water / Wastewater

Location: Hybrid in Newport News, Virginia; Virginia Beach, Virginia; Jacksonville, Florida; or Hampstead, North Carolina, United States

What you will do

• Plan and design municipal water and wastewater infrastructure, including pump stations, storage systems, pipelines, and utility improvements.
• Prepare or oversee engineering reports, technical specifications, construction drawings, design calculations, and cost estimates.
• Manage projects through design and support bidding and construction activities.
• Provide design oversight, quality control, permitting support, and regulatory compliance for project deliverables.
• Participate in client meetings, proposal development, and business development efforts.
• Assist with project scheduling, budgeting, and resource planning.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a related field.
• 2–10 years of experience in water and wastewater engineering design, preferably in consulting.
• Strong experience designing municipal water and wastewater systems.
• Ability to prepare plans, specifications, engineering reports, and design calculations.
• Knowledge of applicable local, state, and federal regulations.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
