(Sr.) EHS Manager (Biotech)

Location: Pennington, New Jersey, United States; onsite responsibility for a single-site CDMO

Salary: $100,000–$150,000 per year, based on experience.

What you will do

• Own and continuously improve the site EHS Management System across process development, pilot, laboratory, and GMP manufacturing areas.
• Develop and implement EHS policies, procedures, environmental compliance programs, and NJDEP permitting activities.
• Lead or support biosafety programs for BSL-2 and BSL-2+ plasmid and lentiviral operations.
• Coordinate industrial hygiene assessments, occupational health programs, respiratory protection, and medical surveillance.
• Lead risk assessments, incident and near-miss investigations, root cause analysis, CAPA, and EHS KPI reporting.
• Deliver training, maintain floor presence, support audits and inspections, and manage emergency response planning and drills.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in environmental science, occupational health and safety, industrial hygiene, engineering, biology, or a related field.
• 10+ years of site-level EHS experience in biotech, pharma, CDMO, or another regulated environment.
• Knowledge of OSHA 29 CFR 1910, RCRA, CAA/CWA requirements, DOT HazMat, BMBL, and NIH Guidelines.
• Experience handling hazardous waste, wastewater, air emissions, biological materials, chemicals, cryogens, and compressed gases.
• Ability to work cross-functionally and provide practical EHS solutions in a fast-paced operating environment.

Nice to have

• Experience with biologics, viral vectors, plasmid DNA, lentivirus, BSL-2 laboratories, or GMP manufacturing.
• CSP, CIH, CHMM, RBP, CBSP, or equivalent certification.
