Sr Staff Software Engineer (Platform Engineering / Distributed Systems)

Location: Hybrid in Renton, Washington, United States

Annual salary: $115,000–$260,000.

What you will do

• Develop and drive the technical roadmap for Digital Personal Auto Sales and platform engineering.
• Design and architect resilient, scalable platform services across on-premises and public cloud environments.
• Build software, automated tests, CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure tooling, and production support processes.
• Lead incident response planning, production readiness assessments, disaster recovery preparation, and operational excellence initiatives.
• Evaluate technologies for partner integrations, compliance, process improvement, and platform visibility.
• Mentor engineers and advise technical and non-technical stakeholders on architecture, reliability, and modernization.

Requirements

• 8+ years of professional software development experience, including 6+ years in architecture and design.
• Fluency in a modern programming language; Go is preferred and Java is a plus.
• Experience designing and operating highly scalable, available, and reliable production systems.
• Deep knowledge of DevOps, hybrid cloud architecture, IaaS/PaaS, Kubernetes, infrastructure automation, observability, networking, databases, storage, and security.
• Strong incident management experience, including incident playbooks, runbooks, triage strategies, and post-incident analysis.
• Bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, or equivalent education or experience.
