Project Quality Inspector B (Oil & Gas)

Location: Channelview, Texas, United States; onsite work in indoor and outdoor fabrication areas and shop floor environments

Salary: $28.57–$42.85 per hour

What you will do

• Perform and document quality inspections of gas turbine structural skids, piping assemblies, welds, coatings, incoming materials, electrical and instrumentation installations, pressure tests, and machined components.
• Conduct visual testing of structural and piping welds and coordinate magnetic particle, liquid penetrant, ultrasonic, radiographic, and positive material identification examinations.
• Collect and validate material test reports and verify material traceability for welded assemblies and piping spools.
• Lead fabrication inspection points with customers and third-party inspectors and prepare final inspection reports.
• Audit industrial coating application and characterization against drawings, specifications, paint forms, and inspection test plans.
• Prepare piping pressure-testing packages, validate calibration certificates, compile test data, and support production schedules.

Requirements

• Three to five years of experience as a qualified quality control inspector with minimal supervision.
• One to three years of experience in pipe fitting or welding.
• Experience with welding NDE, material receiving inspection, structural and pipe welding, pipefitting, machining, assembly, or fabrication of oil and gas process equipment.
• Ability to interpret fabrication drawings, work instructions, engineering specifications, and ASTM, ASME, AWS, and API codes.
• High school diploma or equivalent and proficiency with computers and Microsoft Office.
• Availability to work overtime as needed; employment is subject to background, physical, and drug/alcohol screening, and employer-sponsored visa support is not available.

Nice to have

• Certified Welding Inspector certification.
• AMPP-NACE Level 1 certification.
• ASNT Visual Testing Level 2 certification.
• Experience training less experienced welding inspectors.
