Data Scientist Intern (AI)

Location: Hybrid from offices in Reston, Virginia or Denver, Colorado, or remote from any U.S. location. All work must be performed in the U.S.; housing and relocation assistance are not provided.

Salary: $45,805–$94,221 per year based on full-time employment.

What you will do

• Maintain and enhance predictive analytics models supporting energy efficiency and load management programs for utilities.
• Analyze large datasets covering customer behavior, energy usage, and marketing performance.
• Select appropriate analytical techniques, develop and execute code, and validate outputs.
• Integrate analyses into supporting IT systems and produce technical reports.
• Collaborate with technologists, business stakeholders, and non-technical client stakeholders.

Requirements

• Completed bachelor’s degree plus enrollment verification or at least 9 completed credits in a master’s program in data science or a related discipline.
• Ability to pass required background checks, which may include drug screening.
• Proficiency in R and/or Python, statistical modeling, data manipulation, and data visualization.
• Working knowledge of SQL, predictive modeling, machine learning algorithms, Git, and Docker.
• Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, communicate clearly, and explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

Nice to have

• Completed master’s degree or enrollment in a doctoral program in data science or a related discipline.
• Experience with Microsoft Azure services such as Azure Databricks, Azure Batch, and Azure Blob/Table Storage.
• Familiarity with energy efficiency, utilities, environmental analytics, large-scale datasets, and scalable data solutions.
