Senior Data Scientist (Insurance)

Location: Hybrid work is available from a local hirify.global office in Alpharetta, Bloomington, Chicago, Dallas, Jacksonville, or San Antonio; remote options are available for non-local candidates.

Salary: $104,300–$173,300 annually, plus an eligible annual discretionary bonus.

What you will do

• Design, validate, implement, and monitor statistical and machine-learning solutions for complex business problems.
• Own analytical and modeling workstreams from problem definition through delivery and performance monitoring.
• Collaborate with data scientists, data engineers, and business partners on scalable analytical solutions.
• Develop reusable, modular, and well-documented workflows using modern data science and cloud technologies.
• Manage project priorities, deliverables, timelines, risks, results, and recommendations.
• Participate in model and code reviews, improve methodologies, and provide technical guidance to less experienced team members.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field with at least 8 years of relevant experience, or a graduate STEM degree with at least 6 years of relevant experience; a PhD with at least 4 years of relevant industry experience is also considered.
• At least 4 years of firsthand experience with statistical modeling and AI/ML platforms.
• Strong proficiency in Python, including pandas, NumPy, scikit-learn, SciPy, and visualization libraries.
• Strong SQL skills for extracting, transforming, validating, and analyzing large datasets.
• Knowledge of statistical modeling and machine-learning methods, including feature development, training, validation, evaluation, interpretation, and monitoring.
• Ability to independently solve complex analytical problems, communicate findings to technical and business audiences, and manage significant workstreams.

Nice to have

• Experience in insurance, financial services, pricing, risk modeling, or related analytical environments.
• Experience with Git, GitLab, AWS, Azure, Databricks, or similar tools.
• Familiarity with MLOps, CI/CD, model deployment, reproducible pipelines, and scalable analytical frameworks.
• Experience mentoring less experienced data scientists.
