Autonomy Platform Engineer (Robotics)

Location: San Francisco, CA, United States; hybrid work with time in the office and remotely

Salary: $137,400–$202,000, $168,000–$247,000, or $198,600–$292,000 USD annually, depending on level and work location. Equity grants may also be available.

What you will do

• Build and maintain runtime, middleware, and platform services for autonomy applications.
• Enable compute, camera, lidar, and other sensor platforms across robot generations.
• Improve process orchestration, messaging, configuration, resource isolation, fault recovery, and startup and shutdown behavior.
• Develop observability, tracing, diagnostics, performance measurement, and regression-detection capabilities.
• Build data capture, replay, debugging, provisioning, packaging, deployment, and integration-testing tooling.
• Lead complex debugging across applications, middleware, operating systems, drivers, networking, timing, and hardware.

Requirements

• Strong production experience with C++ and Python.
• Experience with embedded Linux, robotics, autonomous vehicles, or complex mechatronic systems.
• Understanding of operating systems, concurrency, networking, middleware, drivers, GPU acceleration, storage, or real-time performance.
• Experience debugging across multiple software and hardware layers.
• Experience with profiling, tracing, observability, automated testing, and continuous integration.
• Familiarity with Bazel, Git, and modern software-development practices.

Nice to have

• Experience with ROS, ROS2, or comparable robotics middleware.
• Experience collaborating across software, controls, electrical, hardware, manufacturing, and validation disciplines.
