Controls Engineer (Battery Manufacturing)

Location: Liberty, North Carolina, United States; onsite at TBMNC. Business travel of up to 20% may include domestic and international travel. Weekend, off-shift, holiday, and July and December shutdown support may be required.

hirify.global develops automotive and mobility solutions, with this role supporting battery manufacturing and production engineering.

What you will do

• Set up and verify systems for battery manufacturing data analytics and support new model launches.
• Implement shop-floor network systems, including andon, Manufacturing Execution Systems, and connectivity to Manufacturing Operations Management systems.
• Develop specifications and configure manufacturing equipment PLCs, primarily Mitsubishi, using SLMP, Ethernet TCP, and Ethernet/IP protocols.
• Configure and support servers, Cisco switches, machine networks, visualizations, and line-status health indicators.
• Plan and monitor network-system installation, troubleshoot field and communication issues, and coordinate countermeasures with construction teams.
• Document system planning and implementation, train local team members, maintain schedules, and support capital projects through Start of Production.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in engineering or a similar technical field, or 5+ years of equivalent professional experience in manufacturing.
• Experience with production preparation, validation, installation, pre-production trials, and launch of manufacturing network systems.
• Ability to read, interpret, and modify PLC programs; experience with SQL, Oracle, or other databases.
• Experience with Cisco networks, machine-network maintenance, communication protocols, and industrial systems such as FL Net, Ethernet/IP, RFID, RS232/485, CC-Link, and Modbus.
• Experience with Ignition or similar visualization tools for andon or HMI, plus the ability to work in cross-functional environments.
• Must have the right to work in the United States without current or future hirify.global immigration support or visa sponsorship.

Nice to have

• Toyopuc or Mitsubishi PLC programming experience.
• SCADA, MES, Kepware, data analytics, Power BI, or Tableau experience.
• Knowledge of hirify.global specifications or TBP Panel Certification.
