Health & Benefits Consultant

Location: Montreal, Quebec City, or Ottawa, Canada. Hybrid role requiring at least three days per week in the office or onsite with clients.

What you will do

• Lead or co-lead complex health and benefits consulting engagements for large employers.
• Manage service delivery, financial evaluations, plan design, renewals, benchmarking, business placement, and related studies.
• Develop benefits design and renewal strategies, tools, and solutions for complex client issues.
• Negotiate with benefits carriers and vendors to secure medical, dental, life, disability, and welfare plan coverage.
• Communicate industry trends, manage account revenue and profitability, and support business development.
• Expand existing client relationships and lead prospecting efforts for new clients.

Requirements

• BA or BS degree in actuarial science, mathematics, statistics, finance, or a related field.
• At least five years of experience designing, recommending, and implementing business solutions for complex health care benefits challenges.
• Previous experience with major accounts at a large consulting firm.
• Fellow of the Society of Actuaries or AMF license, or currently obtaining the relevant credential.
• Expertise and an established reputation in the health and benefits field.
• Fluency in English and French is required to communicate with bilingual employees and clients across Canada.

Nice to have

• Experience reviewing actuarial valuations of post-employment retirement and other benefits under Canadian, U.S., or international accounting standards.
• Strong analytical, mathematical, strategic planning, communication, and listening skills.
• Experience leading large, complex projects and developing innovative sales and marketing strategies.
