SASE Cloud Software Engineer - AI & Backend

Location: Hybrid in San Jose, California, with at least 2 days per week in the HPE office

Salary: USD 136,500–276,500 annual base salary for California, United States

What you will do

• Develop and enhance the EdgeConnect Orchestrator web application for SD-WAN deployments.
• Design scalable backend services, REST APIs, and microservices for orchestration, monitoring, and network management.
• Build and integrate AI-driven workflows, Copilot capabilities, and intelligent automation for troubleshooting, documentation, and analytics.
• Connect analytics databases and telemetry systems to enable real-time insights.
• Write unit, integration, and white-box tests, and perform debugging, root-cause analysis, and performance optimization.
• Collaborate with engineering, QA, and product management on scalable, secure architecture decisions.

Requirements

• 5+ years of Java and/or Python backend development experience.
• 5+ years of experience designing REST APIs and microservices architectures.
• 2+ years of experience building, integrating, or deploying AI/LLM-powered applications, Copilot solutions, or intelligent automation workflows.
• Experience with prompt engineering, agentic AI, Retrieval-Augmented Generation, AI orchestration, and LLM evaluation.
• Strong database design experience with SQL and/or NoSQL, plus scalable cloud-native development on AWS, Azure, or similar platforms.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems, or a related technical field; a master’s degree is preferred.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree in a related technical discipline.
• Familiarity with JavaScript, React, and Node.js.
