Risk and Safety Advisor

Location: Hybrid role serving clients across the Northern Eyre Peninsula in South Australia, including Streaky Bay, Kimba, Ceduna, Elliston, Wudinna, and Port Augusta. At least three days per week must be spent in the local office or onsite with clients.

What you will do

• Partner with Local Government organisations to deliver WHS and risk management outcomes.
• Provide oral and written advice on civil liability and risk management issues.
• Assist with developing systems for managing specific risks in Local Government organisations.
• Build effective relationships with internal staff, government bodies, Local Government organisations, and private enterprises.
• Promote risk management as an organisational culture within Local Government.
• Travel across the client portfolio while balancing client-facing and non-client-facing work.

Requirements

• Knowledge of South Australian Work Health and Safety legislation, principles, and practices.
• Experience and expertise in risk management, including knowledge of ISO 31000 and Self-insured Work Health and Safety Standards.
• Knowledge of the South Australian Return to Work Act 2014.
• Relevant auditing qualification or experience and competence with Microsoft Office applications.
• Current South Australian driver’s licence and willingness to travel within the assigned regions.
• Appropriate approval to work in Australia is required.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of the Local Government Act 1999 and other relevant legislation.
• Understanding of civil liability, contracting, and common law.
• Knowledge of Local Government risks, occupations, tasks, and jobs.
